Deal Or No Deal.

This past weekend we went to the Great Wolf Lodge.  When trying to think of how to describe this place a couple of thoughts jump in my head like say a knock off Disneyland or Chuck E Cheese's on Steroids...just plain fun EVERYWHERE you turn.  While it is a bit pricey initially, if you consider it included water park admission for 2 days and a nights stay it's not that bad.  Don't get me wrong you will be nickeled and dimed if you are not careful but there are ways to make your stay more affordable.  There is a fridge and a microwave in the rooms and there is a Pizza Hut if your kids are totally over stimulated (like mine were) and you need to just order in.  Jaxson had a blast- the water park, the arcade, ice cream, pizza, story time... But Annabelle was a bit too young for most the excitement.  They have a great toddler pool she loved to splish and splash but she can do that in the bath tub for free.  They had some great slides as Corey said "that make your butt pucker"...which I did agree...but very fun!  The water park was well maintained considering there was seriously a million other people there...a little crowded for my taste- not sure if it was the rodeo crowd or where the heck all those people came from...I can only imagine what this weekend is going to be like (OMG...did you hear the Super Bowl is coming to Arlington??).  So all in all I would say it's a deal.
Side Note:  I played Deal or No Deal in the arcade and I won the second to biggest amount of tickets ...so I am going on the actual game ...I will keep you posted... :)

Happy Monday! and Happy Birthday to my Dad.

Now I shall go get ready for the "ARCTIC BLAST"...don don donnnnn

A farwell address that made me laugh...

I love blogs.  I love getting an insight to people's minds, lives, ideas and insights.  While surfing through blogs the other day I fell upon this post.  I don't know this girl, and even though she obviously dislikes a person like me (i.e. I brags about my kids, love cupcakes, wearsTom shoes -which I am wearing now...its a great cause and they are getting cuter by the minute, I don't have a perfect life but its perfect for me and I'm gonna tell you about if you want to listen...)  Maybe she is a witty girl or maybe a pitty party.  Who knows...Not sure what catagory I fall into probably a bit of each.
Here's what she had to say...
I think that I am officially done blogging. I really enjoy reading other people's blogs but I just don't think that writing one myself is really "my thing". To me the blogging world seems to be separated into 4 categories... 1. The funny, witty and honest blogger who says the most un PC things and really tells it like it is while cracking you up. Love this blogger. 2. The super creative blogger who always has a great new craft idea or fabulous home decorating tip. I love reading these blogs but I get super envious and bitter b/c I am far from creative. 3. The oh so annoying braggers. These are the bloggers who are constantly bragging about how perfect their children, husbands, homes, clothes, lives in general are and think that "being honest" about their lives means they occasionally post a no makeup picture of themselves. It's obnoxious. And finally there are the bloggers like my self...number 4. The bloggers who are really trying but their lives are just kind of boring. They either have no kids to post about or they are just no good at Witty banter, crafting, bragging or blogging in general. As I mentioned I fall into the boring blogger category and I'm positive that I will never fit into any other category.

So with that said I will no longer be blogging. If you are a friend of mine in real life you can find me on face book. I love posting photos so as always I will be overloading my face book page with them. I still plan to stay in the blogger world by keeping up with the 10 or so blogs I have been following for the past year...most of you follow mine (or occasionally read mine lol) so you know who you are ;) I love reading yours so please keep em coming!

Just for fun here is a bullet list on why I am not the "blogger type":

I do not have a child.
I am not pregnant.
My wedding and the planning for it is over.
I do not know how to use a glue gun, sewing machine, or scrap booking scissors.
I am way to opinionated.
I am not perfect, and no one would buy it if I tried to act like I was.
I do not buy designer clothes or search the internet for them (but I wish I could)
My house is old, and small and needs quite a bit of work (well less now than before).
I have no decorating skills, seriously I'm lucky if I can pick out sheets to match my comforter.
I do not like cupcakes...or cake in general.
I cook but not gourmet, I mean I cook spaghetti or baked chicken but nothing fancy.
No one wants to see pictures of my dog and cat, even if they are super cute.
I do not like Toms shoes, they are ugly. But I do love that they support a great cause.
I do not like most trends like this ^^^^^ that everyone else loves.
I live in uggs, yoga pants and no makeup.
My idea of a vacation these days is a trip to Philly or a cheap cruise...nothing fancy for the Mixons.
My furniture comes from places like Rooms To Go, not boutiques or Pottery Barn.
Sometimes I am skinny-ish (before vacation), but mostly I'm kinda chubby, no one needs to hear about that.
I really don't have a good sense of fashion...no one would look to me for tips that's for sure.
My family is awesome, but loud and crazy and drinks a lot.
Ok I drink a lot too...I may or may not be a wine-o.

I'm pretty sure that's enough to put me in the running for the worst blogger of the year award? Ha!

PEACE OUT!!!!!

How creative can one be?

My sweet friend Megan shared these with me. This little girl’s mother is a computer specialist from Helsinki, Finland. While her daughter is soundly asleep, she creates a completely different world…from whatever she can find around her! That’s how both of them became famous. What a truly fabulous imagination!
Too stinkin' cool!  Thanks Megan! :)

Love Red Box.

Have you used Red Box?  They are pretty much on every corner.  I so wish I would have come up with this genius idea.  Movies a dollar a day...easy rent, easy return.  We have been watching alot of movies lately.  I get bored really easily and most of the time I can not make it through a whole movie unless it is really good.  I hated a couple and liked the rest...here is what I thought...

Date Night- Not so great.  Off the wall and weird.

Dinner for Smucks - Tried way to hard to be funny and just was not.  Waste of time indeed.

Going the Distance - Cute, fun and light.  Some good laughs!

Eat, Pray, Love - Slow but good.  I think I dosed off a couple times but I got the jist...probably would enjoy the book more.

The Kids are All Right - Wow!  Rated VERY R!  it was a good movie, not what I was expecting and not one you should watch with your mom on the next couch - good thing I am close with mine.

Have you seen any good movies lately?  Do share...

Walk it out.

I love this chick!  I wish I knew her.  If this doesn't make you smile I don't know what will.  Watch and learn.

Happy Plate.

Feeding a toddler and a 4 year old can be hit or miss...at our house it seems more miss lately.  But never fear I found something somewhat healthy that was a hit last night... World Market carries this super cool pasta (veggie infused and whole wheat might I add) Planes, Trains and Automobiles!

Back. To. School...Robyn Style

This week I started my last semester of college (yes, the 12 year plan..no comments please and thank you).  A little back ground here...I quit school when I was 23 and went to work in the real world at a "real job".  It was fun and the money was nice!  But around May every year I would get depressed that I didn't follow through with me lifetime goal of becoming a teacher and having summers off with my kiddos.  Mind you I never thought I could do the WHOLE year off as a stay at home mom...and I still don't think I ever could (someone please remind me of this is a few months when I am working).  The job I was at last December took a turn for the worse just in time for me to stand back and re evaluate my life goals.  I love kids...I mean who else do you know that gets excited to drive through school zones to see all those sweet faces eager, innocent and brilliant!  I thank God every day for this because while we have made some huge sacrifices to make this happen it is working out for the very best... just as I hoped it would!

So back to school for my last semester...yay!!!  My first day back was nothing I expected.. it was unlike the other 2 first days I had in the past year...instead of being so gitty, excited and ready to learn I walked into 2 classrooms that I just knew I would be miserable in for the next 4 months...so what else so I do but go talk to my advisor switch a couple things around...and drum roll please....I GET TO GO TO FRANCE!  ...Yes, France...the one on the other side of the world.  While I am very skeptical about leaving my lil' family, I am sooooo incredibly excited about the opportunity to take such a trip and finish my college experience off Robyn style, baby!  Chirp, chirp!

I do have to thank my totally awesome, great, and wonderful husband for helping me see what an opportunity it is and encouraging me to go.  I have no doubt in my mind he will fine with the kiddos.  I love you, baby!

Deep thoughts by Robyn...

If you know me very well you know that I think and and over think about EVERYTHING...I think I will have a "Did/Do you know?" post every so often for enlightening things I learn.

So...Do you know why a toilet is called a "John" or a "Crapper"?
Because John Harrington installed the first toliet and Sir Thomas Crapper improved the functionality of the early flush toilet.
(Note: I do not call it either but in my recent words with friends game I was desprate to use anything...)

By the way Corey knows everything...seriously...either that or he is THE greatest BS'er.  I asked him today this question...and he got it right on.

Sweet and Comforting

So I got tired of being a guest blogger on Corey's fabulous blog...crayonsandkeyboards.blogspot.com.  I decided to start my own.  Since I am currently going to school and just being a mommy I have had to get creative to keep the kid entertained. I have to admit I have really impressed myself.  This week will be our 6th week out of school and we have had an activity pretty much daily.  So from now on you can come here and see what we are doing...we can always use ideas.  So lets us know what your are too!
I got a recipe for something sweet and comforting for a snowy day in doors.  It's a hit and super easy.

Recipe:
2 bags of popcorn
1/2 bag of white chocolate morsels
sprinkles
some other options might include... M&M's, craisins, peanuts, cheerios and the list goes on...
